Elementary School Kids and the Presidential Election

Many Americans today are struggling with their natural born right to vote is this upcoming presidential election but, what many seize to think about are the younger generations. Although in America you must be of 18 years of age to be able to vote, there are many under the age of 18 that are being faced with the same questions.

12-year old Caroline Gehnrich said, “My teachers are all telling me that they want to get as many people they can to vote for Obama because of how bad it could get is McCain wins,” she continued, “I also heard that if McCain wins they want to have school all year –round, and I definitely don’t want that!”

Teachers are facing many questions at hand this election that will affect them for at least the next four years, if not for the rest of their career.

“My teacher said to get our parents to vote for Arack Obama! (Barack Obama)”, stated Elizabeth Gehnrich, 8. “She said the other guy is bad and if we want the war to end, to vote for Arack!”

Students go to school to learn and therefore, any advice their teachers have to offer, they will value. When mother of children Elizabeth and Caroline Gehnrich was interviewed she said this:

“Many times I find it difficult to question what my children’s teachers are teaching them in school because you want to build a strong parent-teacher bond for your children so you are on the same page. Luckily, in this case I don’t find it hard to disagree with their teachers but that may not be the case for other households. I would think in that case you may want to listen to what your kids have to say and value it accordingly and weigh out what’s most important in the election for you.”, Ann Gehnrich, 45.

It seems that this election is one that has gotten to the level of all, races, ages and professionals this year, who would have thought that students even in Elementary school would be so concerned in a presidential election.
